Reiki can be understood as an invisible “universal energy” that feels a bit like an energetic sping clean. By clearing away noise and clutter, our vision becomes clearer and we can move forward on our path with more ease.
Receiving Reiki is usually a relaxing experience, is enoyed fully clothed and involves minimal physical contact.
Reiki is received fully clothed on a massage table, covered in blankets if needed. I may place my hands lightly on areas such as the head, feet and legs – but it can be completely “hands off” if you prefer.
“Receiving Reiki was as relaxing as lying in a warm bath, while being cleansed by an etch-a-sketch. All the stress I was carrying felt like it became washed off me.”
“I’ve no idea how it works, but it doesn’t really matter – the experience of the Reiki energy felt so nice, and that’s all I need to know!”
What people are saying
“Thank you Sarah for the great Reiki and Shiatsu sessions this past week! I look look forward to more in the future and highly recommend these treatments to help find relaxing healing energy.”
“I highly recommend Sarah’s treatments and she has such passion when it comes to the Reiki and Shiatsu. If you are sceptical about distance healing I would say where attention goes energy flows and that is my way of explaining how it works.”
“I have had one of the best restorative and energising Reiki treatments with Sarah. I came in exhausted after yet another bad night sleep and emerged vibrant and full of energy and joy.”
Founded in Japan in the early twentieth century by Dr Usui, Usui Reiki is a energy healing system that helps to relieve physical, mental and emotional challenges. Reiki is particularly effective for people who find it hard to relax and who want to feel calmer and clearer.
In a meditative state, I channel different energy frequencies, intuitively working with the energy according to how the receiver reacts to the frequency. Some people experience the frequencies as physical sensations such as a warm buzzing in the body, and the Ki may also manifest as colours or light static in specific areas of the body.
I first qualified in Usui Reiki in 2009, and then spent several years using Reiki to self-treat, reflecting on the Reiki precepts, and cleansing my energy body daily with Hatsurei Ho. These are the basic essentials of any Reiki practice.
I progressed to Second Degree in 2014, and then to Master Level, with Usui Reiki teacher Tina Shaw. Tina has received attunements and empowerments from more than one teacher which means I have both a ‘Japanese Lineage’ and a ‘Western Lineage’.
For the last decade, I have developed a regular self-treatment Reiki practice. I am constantly fascinated by the power and simplicity of Reiki to bring calm and clarity, in particular through painful life episodes such as bereavement, changing jobs, relationship challenges, redundancy, burnout and many more things!
A few times each month, I swap Reiki with a Reiki Master Practitioner friend in the UK. Remote healing with Reiki works on the Buddhist understanding of Oneness and I find it mind-blowingly powerful! I also love the feeling of being connected to friends from afar, and knowing that I can support my friends and clients around the world, regardless of the distance.
I founded SJA Holistics to help people get well, feel great, and stay well using the power of practices derived from Eastern Medicine including Shiatsu, Reiki, Acupressure and Qi Gong.
For over a decade I’ve worked with Ki and have first-hand experience of how energy- and body-work can lead to positive health. Working with the energy body as well as the physical can bring profound changes to mental, emotional and physical issues.
After completing three years of study for the Professional Shiatsu Diploma, I honed my experience working voluntarily for six months in a national UK charity giving Shiatsu to people recovering from substance misuse.
It is my mission to help you recognise your own self-healing ability and to empower you with the skills and knowledge you need to dramatically improve your self-care.
We create your current health picture. Then we get clear on your goals so that we are aligned from the outset. This makes it easier to monitor progress.
Every one of us has a universal energy, also known as lifeforce, chi, prana and Ki, that underpins our whole existence, and within that, our health. Stimulating the flow of Ki is how you can get well, feel great and stay well.
